At the time when Klimt was active and Art Nouveau architecture and new art were gaining popularity, music was still in the midst of the late Romantic trend, with beautiful melodies supported by chromatic harmony that sounded as if they were dripping on the edge of tonal decay. This album features works by composers active during that period. At the heart of the album is Gortmark's "Rural Wedding," and the virtuosos Ilmberger and Sinaiski offer brilliant interpretations of his varied music, including the "Suite," which sometimes has a jazz-like flavor.
