Famed trumpeter Alison Balsam's, the supreme virtuoso of the natural trumpet, is widely regarded as one of the most technically, musically, and internationally sought-after trumpeters of her generation, a passionate educator, and spokesperson for music education, She has established a multifaceted career as a curator, and her 2012 release Sound the Trumpet, in which she performs English Baroque works on natural trumpet without piston, remains an international bestseller. This sequel to that album, the first in three years, once again proclaims her love for the Baroque era, known as the "Golden Age of the Trumpet. Beginning with the celebratory music of Handel's "Music for the Royal Fireworks," the program features selections from works by two German composers, J.S. Bach and Telemann, as well as Henry Purcell. These Baroque composers wrote with a thorough knowledge of their instruments.
