Domenico Scarlatti, an Italian Baroque composer, and György Ligeti, a contemporary Hungarian composer. At first glance, these two composers seem to have nothing in common, but they have a great deal in common in their pursuit of technicality in keyboard music. In this album, Scarlatti's diverse sonatas are interspersed with three spectacular works by Ligeti, in a unique attempt to experience the timeless connection between the two. Taylor, who plays, is a young harpsichordist born in 1992 of French and American descent. He has won numerous awards, including Gramophone magazine's "Editor's Choice" and the French Critics Circle's "Revelation Musical," and his flexible expression and musicality have made him one of the most promising performers in the field today.
