Lajtha, Laszlo (1892-1963)
Description:
László Reita was born in Budapest, studied in Leipzig, Geneva, and Paris, and developed his own style, but after World War I he devoted himself to the study of Hungarian folk music, and is recognized as one of the "most important Hungarian composers of the 20th century. Symphony No. 7, composed based on his impressions of the "Hungarian Uprising" of 1956, depicts the uprising of the Hungarian people against the oppression and rule of the Soviet Union. Although there is a tragic atmosphere throughout, the work ends brightly, as if in a prayer for hope. The delightful Suite No. 3, which is like a divertimento, is also worth listening to. Naxos Japan
