This vintage top is quite fabulous, and so versatile - as you can see, it looks amazing worn as a midriff top and over a camisole. I could also picture it over a snug long sleeved tee or a sleek dress, which was probably how it was originally worn. The top has a banded boat neckline and banded cropped waist. There is an inner layer of gently fitted sheer fabric, open at the sides. The outer layer is vertical "tubes" or bands of fabric, cut on the bias, anchored at the top and bottom - I've heard this called a "car wash" effect, named after the strips of canvas that hang from the ceiling of your local carwash and swing against your wet automobile to clean it while you drive through. The overall effect is quite daring, even if you wear undergarments as my model did.
SIZE: No size label - I would say it's a one size fits many, because of the way it's designed. It was not pinned on the model.
Bust 39" (99 cm)
Length from shoulder seam to top of empire waist 11" (28 cm)
Empire waistband 32" (81.25 cm)
FABRIC/COLORS: medium weight black faille, probably rayon. The top is fully lined in a slightly crisp sheer black
TAGS: No tags
CLOSURES: Closes in the back with a pair of hooks & eyes, one at the neckline and the other at the waistband.
CONDITION: I have hand stitched the edges of the semisheer lining under the arms where raw edges were fraying a bit - see closeup of "before". No stains, holes, tears or other issues.
