A Västkust table lamp designed by Ingrid Atterberg for Upsala Ekeby, 1943. Atterberg designed many classics for Upsala-Ekeby during 1940s-60s. One of her most well known series was Västkust (West coast), a series of eight earthenware bowls and vases with rounded shapes and white or yellow dots on grey or brown background. Västkust was designed in 1943 and remained in production until 1956. This is a vase model 2030 previously turned lamp. Another lamp is available in the same model and similar execution (see second image).
Ingrid Atterberg was distinguished by the bold simplicity and strictness of her creations. She is represented in many museum collections, such as the Viktoria and Albert in London and Nationalmuseum in Stockholm and has had several solo exhibitions in Sweden as well as abroad. In 1954, she was awarded the gold medal for her contribution at the triennale in Milan.
