This is a classic Great Britain 1d Red (Penny Red), issued in 1841 as the successor to the famous Penny Black. Each stamp carries unique corner check letters, with this example showing M (lower left) – J (upper right). Postally used, it bears a bold cancellation typical of mid-Victorian correspondence.
