The Designer’s Daruma brings minimalist beauty to a traditional Japanese concept. A lucky talisman to inspire and encourage, and a contemporary objet d’art.

Three flowing lines on each side of the lucky doll’s body symbolize the passage of time from the past to the future. Poetic Japanese word equations — “Korobu x 7” and “Okiru x 8” — allude to the wise Japanese proverb: “Fall down seven times, get up eight.” To fall is not to fail, it’s an opportunity to get up for a fresh start. It’s a message to never give up hope and that courage and strength lies in resilience and perseverance.

Designer’s Daruma are made with recycled paper and hand-painted with environmentally friendly paint in bold matt colors. Each one is a unique piece of art conceived by Designer 2104, a designer renowned for revitalizing traditional and cultural objects in Japan with new and innovative concepts.
