About Texas Cedar Fever

Texas cedar fever is commonly experienced by those who live in Texas and occurs during the winter months, typically from November through March. This common allergic reaction to mountain cedar trees causes symptoms that are similar to other seasonal allergies including sneezing, congestion, and itchy, watery eyes. And, although the name would imply that a fever may result, this is actually quite uncommon. However, a slight temperature increase may occur due to inflammation caused by the overreaction of the immune system. 

Mountain cedars grow mostly in Central Texas. However, the pollen can travel for hundreds of miles, so you don’t necessarily have to have cedar trees on, or even near, your property to be affected by Texas cedar fever. For those who suffer from Texas cedar fever, the winter can be a dreadful time of year.
