Izumi Kobayashi and Flying Mimi Band
Description:
Finally, the first CD release! This is the second album (1978) of the band led by Izumi Kobayashi, a genius keyboardist who also worked with Parachute and Masayoshi Takanaka Band, and is known for writing/arranging/vocalizing many theme songs for the hit anime "Urusei Yatsura. The funky tune "Why" was recorded in Hawaii, bringing a sense of paradise and exhilaration to this mellow Japanese Brazilian album. The album also features the participation of Jerry Hey (tp), Randy Baker (tp), and other strong musicians from overseas. The participation of Kayoko Iju (vo) is also noteworthy. The group is also known as the mother of the progressive fusion group, Malaia. Commentary and supervision: Hisakazu Kanazawa
