ABOUT THE ARTISANS

This piece of jewelry was handmade in a fair trade cooperative in Northern India.  The artisans are paid an average of 35% higher than industry standards and enjoy safe and stable working conditions.  In addition, the artisans receive full health insurance coverage, as well as business, design and computer training.  Over 950 artisans have been able to start small businesses of their own through micro financing and training.  The craft partners also offer educational centers to support children in underprivileged communities so they can complete their educations.
