Description:
40th anniversary of his death! This box contains all of pianist Carl Zeman's (1910-1983) recordings for the ORFEO label, including all of the albums released on the label by Carl Zeman, who regarded the piano as the perfect instrument for counterpoint expression. Born in Bremen, Zeman studied organ and piano at the church music school in Leipzig. After starting his career as a church organist, he decided to devote himself to pianism at the age of 25. Thereafter, he worked as a performer and educator. As a performer, he worked on everything from Bach and Scarlatti to the latest music of the day, such as Stravinsky and Bartók, and Henze dedicated a work to him. For a long time, Zeman had a strong image among record fans as "Schneiderhan's accompanist," but since his death, recordings of his solo and concerto works have been unearthed one after another, and his performances, backed by his solid formative and harmonic sense, have been highly acclaimed. This box includes the repertoire for which Seemann was highly acclaimed during his lifetime, from the well-established Bach to Berg and Hindemith. The Bach partitas are played with clarity and dynamism without heaviness, and the duo's performance with Schneiderhan is impressive. Of course, there is also a duo performance with Schneiderhan. *This box set shows the recording of "Bach: Partita" as June 5 & 6, 1965, but the correct date is July 5 & 6, 1965. Naxos Japan
