Born in Kagoshima, Japan in 1969, he won the first prize in the Tokyo International Music Competition for Conducting and the Hideo Saito Award in 2000 and the Besançon International Competition for Conductors in 2001, which brought him into the limelight. In 2006, he was named the first Permanent Conductor of the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra and the first Permanent Conductor of the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra. In April 2013, he was appointed Principal Guest Conductor of the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra.
