Description:
Genesis released their 6th album "Selling England By The Pound" on October 13, 1973. In conjunction with this album, the band toured Europe, North America, England, and North America for eight months, starting with a performance in Paris, France on September 19 of the same year and ending in New York on May 6 of the following year, performing 115 shows. This strenuous touring effort resulted in the album reaching No. 3 on the U.K. album chart, No. 70 on the U.S. album chart, and the band's first gold disc. During this tour, the April 21, 1974 Montreal, Canada show was recorded live for the record and for broadcast on local rock FM station CHOM. However, after the broadcast, it was put in storage without being commercialized, so this album release is a chance to experience the live performance of Genesis during this period. The set list of the day was 10 songs including encores, so this live album is a complete recording of the concert.Incidentally, the encore "The Knife" was not broadcast, so this is the first time it appeared. Since this concert was in the second half of the tour, the band also performed new material, and this is a great live album that once again shows the greatness of Genesis' live performance! The album also includes a performance by Peter Hamill, frontman of Van der Graaff Generator, who was the opening act for this concert!
