Telemann (1681-1767)
Description:
Mischael Schneider and La Stagione, two of the foremost experts on Telemann's works, recorded works from the last years of Telemann's life. 1834, Georg Michael Telemann (1748-1831), a musician attached to the cathedral in Riga, the capital of Latvia, was found in the estate of his grandfather, Georg Philipp Telemann. The autographs and letters of his grandfather, Georg Philippe Telemann, were discovered in his belongings. Among them are nine volumes of sheet music, which are believed to have been written in the 1760s, from which the music on this CD is taken. The CD contains Telemann's "swan song" of orchestral suites in the style of French overtures, which was his specialty, and Italian-style sinfonias, which are written in a refined style. Naxos Japan
