Tanigawa's works, born out of homage to famous jazz artists, are all a series of creative charms that spread the wings of fantasy, and the patterns that thrillingly pass through the inexhaustibly stretched web of jazz idioms are breathtaking. Piazzolla's dramatic rhythms and sweet melodies are wrapped in the exquisite breathing of the two musicians. The album closes with a lovely little piece by Hidemasa Nishimura, a composer who passed away prematurely, and the entire album is colored with the fragrant flavor and anthemic mood of the duo. (C)RS
