A compilation of current klezmer music selected by Ukrainian artist Yuri Gruzhy, leader of the Berlin-based mixture band Rotfront and known for his participation in Balkan beat pioneer Chantelle's various productions. Yuri Gruzhiy, currently based in Berlin, is the leader of the mixed band Rotfront, and is also known for his appearances on Balkan beat pioneer "Chantelle" and as a DJ at the famous "Russendisko" club event in Berlin, which specializes in Eastern European disco. He is also known as a DJ for "Russendisko," a famous club event in Berlin that specializes in Eastern European disco. This album is a virtual soundtrack to his "journey in search of Jewish identity," as Yuri spent his childhood in Halkiou, Ukraine, listening to his grandfather's klezmer records. Artists included in the collection are Juris Mix, Lotfront, Daniel Kahn & the Painted Bird, Disorientalists, Krezmer Brass All Stars, and others, for a total of 18 tracks.Rock, dance, brass, dub, ska, rap, trad, etc... This is a valuable project that brings together the diverse "now" of klezmer, Jewish music with Eastern European roots. This is the first release from the label division of Enjoy Jazz, Germany's largest annual jazz festival held in Heidelberg.
