Flatlanders, the supergroup of Joe Illie, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, and Butch Hancock, Texas' most talented singer/songwriters and musicians who formed in the early 1970s and have collaborated occasionally over the past 50 years, is proud to announce that for the first time in almost 12 years long-awaited new album "Treasure of Love" in 2021! Amidst the lockdown caused by the Corona Virus, Flatlanders' friend and collaborator Lloyd Maynes helped to finish this smoldering content. Lloyd Maynes is a renowned Texas producer and multi-instrumentalist who has worked with Jerry Jeff Walker, Terry Allen, Chris Christopherson, Loretta Lynn, Wilco, The Chicks, and more. The Flatlanders are an important band in the Americana, roots rock, and alternative country scene, who have long produced songs and sounds that blend a wide range of American roots music, including country, folk, bluegrass, rock and roll, and country rock. The band is an important band in the Americana, Roots Rock, and Alternative Country scenes.The new album is a return to the roots, and in addition to the originals, includes covers of Leon Russell's "She Smiles Like a River," Towne Van Zandt's "Snowin' on Layton," Mickey Newbury's "Mobil Blues," and George Jones & the Big Bopper's "Treasure of Love," the title track of the new album.
