The Montreux Jazz Festival is one of the world's largest music festivals with a 55-year history. The "THE MONTREUX YEARS" series unravels rare sound recordings from the vast and extensive collection of the late Claude Nobs, the founder of the festival. The latest in this series of historically and musically significant performances by icons of music history, this is a collection of the most influential pianists in the history of jazz, and the most revered by fans and artists alike as the next in Coltrane's lineage of master pianists. The Montreux Jazz Festival, one of the world's largest music festivals, started in 1967 and is now in its 56th year. The festival has featured many iconic artists who have made music history, and has delivered historic performances. The festival has been preserved as a vast and valuable collection called Montreux Sounds.In 2013, the Montreux Sounds was recognized by UNESCO, The Montreux Jazz Festival and BMG have teamed up to present "THE MONTREUX YEARS," a series that will explore the Montreux Sounds' vast collection.To date, works by Etta James, Nina Simone, Muddy Waters, Marianne Faithfull, John McLaughlin, Chick Corea, Monty Alexander, and this year, Paco de Lucia and Michel Petrucciani have been released. The festival will not only bring legendary performances by world-class artists back to life, but will also include a wealth of rare and previously unreleased recordings from the festival's rich 55-year history, as well as newly written liner notes and previously unpublished photographs. The series also includes a booklet with liner notes and previously unpublished photographs, making it an extremely important series in the history of music. Following the release of Dr. John in June, the Modern Jazz Quartet and McCoy Tyner will be the latest releases in this series.MCCOY TYNER: THE MONTREUX YEARS" is a collection of recordings by McCoy Tyner, one of the most influential pianists in jazz history and the most revered by fans and artists alike as the next in Coltrane's lineage of great pianists. This album contains seven songs selected from his outstanding performances at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1981, 1986 (under the name of the McCoy Tyner All-Stars), and 2009 (under the name of the McCoy Tyner Trio).
