Toscanini's miraculous stereo recording! Verdi's Requiem is now available in high-quality UHQCD! The "Verdi: Requiem" from 1951, one of Toscanini's greatest masterpieces, was recorded in stereo! The recording was not made in stereo from the beginning, however, but by chance, due to the fact that there were two microphones standing at the same time in two different places. The right channel and the left channel were recorded by different recorders, and of course there are some unstable parts due to compositing, but the woodwinds sing well, the strings are lustrous, and the singers' majestic singing is beautifully captured. The quality is sufficient for art appreciation. This masterpiece was performed at Carnegie Hall, not at 8H Studios, to raise funds for "Casa Verdi" (also famous for Daniel Schmidt's documentary film "Tosca's Kiss"), a home for the elderly in Milan, Italy exclusively for musicians. This was truly a superb live performance of all senses. The first half of the program was Verdi: "Te Deum", which is also under investigation as a possible stereo recording. This is a rare recording that allows us to fully enjoy Toscanini's particular orchestral arrangement with both wings of the violin and the left side of the low strings, and it is now available on UHQCD. The rare photo, which is also being released for the first time, is a rehearsal scene from the NBC Symphony Orchestra's U.S. tour in April 1950.It also comes with a newly written article (with bilingual translation) by up-and-coming journalist Nestor Castiglione.
