Description:

Katinka von Richter plays Brahms! Katinka von Richter, who studied with Anatole Ugolski and Lan Lan, is active worldwide! Early Brahms masterpieces, Piano Sonatas No. 2 & No. 3! Born in Hamburg, Johannes Brahms began his career as a pianist at the age of seven. In addition to symphonies, concertos, chamber music, and choral works, piano works would always play an important role in his oeuvre. The two piano sonatas on this album were written in 1852 (No. 2, revised in 1854) and 1953 as Brahms' early masterpieces. Brahms composed a total of three piano sonatas, which constitute Brahms' early creative period and show his already intensive work with traditional formal concepts and motivic work. Katinka von Richter performs these unique works in a very personal interpretation, with a lightness, depth, and delicacy of feeling. A native of Munich, Katinka von Richter is a pianist who possesses the highest level of feeling, expression, imagination, and sensitivity towards music. She studied with Anatole Ugolski and Lan Lan and has built her professional career internationally in Switzerland, Italy, France, New York and Germany.Katinka von Richter is not only a serious classical musician, but she is also well versed in contemporary art and is active in that field as well.
