Description:
A collection of rare recordings by the famous pianist who astonished the world with his "new Horowitz. Almost world premiere on CD. This six-CD box contains all of the recordings made by the famous Belgian-American pianist Ted Jochelson for RCA between 1974 and 1978. Ormandy, who recognized the talent of the young pianist, who was 17 years old at the time and had never even competed in a competition, immediately recommended Jochelson to RCA, and a recording contract was immediately signed. The following May, Jochelson's "game piece," Prokofiev's difficult Piano Concerto No. 2, was recorded with the Philadelphia Orchestra under Ormandy's direction, and was released in coupling with the Tchaikovsky No. 1, recorded in October of the same year. It was released in coupling with Tchaikovsky No. 1, recorded in October of the same year, and created a sensational sensation.Over the next five years, Jochelson recorded for RCA three Romantic sonatas, Liszt's B minor and Chopin's Nos. 2 and 3, and, except for Ravel's piano concerto, his favorite Russian music, Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 3 and five sonatas, "A Brief Vision," and Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition. His interpretation of Prokofiev was praised when the LP was first released: "Jochelson has an affinity for Prokofiev's music. The bittersweet lyricism and chromatic nuances of "A Brief Vision" were praised by High Fidelity in the U.S., as was the realization on his debut Piano Concerto No. 2 and Sonata album. Although these LPs were enthusiastically received, with the exception of Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 and Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 2, which were released only once on CD in Japan, they were almost never released on CD and have become "forgotten. The reissue as a 6-CD box set will be a great news for the fans. His repertoire includes "Liszt: Sonata in B minor," "Ravel: Piano Concerto in G major," and "Tchaikovsky: Piano Concertos No. 1 and No. 2" with Ormandy, who made his reputation, as well as a collection of Prokofiev sonatas with which he felt the greatest sympathy. The album also includes a collection of Prokofiev sonatas with which he felt the greatest sympathy, and the magnificent masterpiece "Piano Concerto No. 3," allowing the audience to fully enjoy Joelson's brilliant performance that captivated Ormandy. All but CD1 are first-time CD releases, remastered at 24bit/192kHz from the original masters. Sony Music
