In the 19th century, when there was no recording technology such as vinyl records, the only way for people to enjoy music was to go to concert halls or actually perform it. Therefore, for large-scale works such as symphonies and operas, there was a growing demand for "arrangements for the smallest possible orchestra" to be performed at home or in salons, and a variety of scores were published, some modified by the composers themselves and others arranged by other composers. Among these, the two-piano or four-hand arrangement was considered to be the most suitable for transcribing the full sound of symphonic or orchestral works, and Schumann also arranged some of his works in this form. The Eckerle Piano Duo has recorded seven albums, including all of Schumann's original and supervised works, and this fifth collection includes "Symphony No. 4" arranged by Schumann himself and "Symphony No. 1" arranged with his wife Clara.
