Description:

The Hilliard Ensemble is one of the world's finest vocal groups, with a repertoire ranging from Renaissance music to contemporary compositions. On this album, the ensemble performs Rutishauser's "Tenebrae," composed between 2010 and 2011, with renowned violinist Paul Giger. The work is full of improvisational and free harmonies, and the sound of the violin responding to the mysterious voice creates a unique and sacred atmosphere. Paul Giger, who was born in Switzerland and spent his youth as a street musician in Asia, is a talented musician, having served as concertmaster of the St. Gallen Symphony Orchestra for three years, and has recently become active as a composer, as heard on this album.
