A fusible link is designed to fail safely before the main wiring overheats, preventing insulation melt or fire.

2) Prevents major component damage

Without this protection, a surge could destroy expensive parts like:

• alternator

• main fuse box

The fusible link sacrifices itself to protect everything downstream.

3) Handles high current better than standard fuses

Regular blade fuses aren’t ideal for very high current circuits. Fusible links:

• tolerate brief current spikes
• only melt during sustained overloads

• Car won’t start (no crank or no power)
  Especially if the battery is fine but nothing happens when you turn the key.
