Van Dyke Parks is one of the most important figures in the Burbank sound, and many people have pointed out that his string arrangements are the true essence of his music, but until now there has been no compilation that provides a bird's eye view of all of his works released by Warner. This is Van Dyke's own compilation of his own choice of masterful arrangements, released on his own label. It includes not only songs by Little Feat and Ry Cooder, but also solo singles such as "Eagle And Me" and "Farther Along," whose mad arrangements are very popular among soft rock/pop enthusiasts (but have never been released on CD before). In addition, "Sit Down I Think I Love You" by the MOJO MEN is included as a single version, and Bonnie Raitt's single B-side "Wah She Go Do" (a hidden calypso number) is also included. The album is packed with exceptional talent worthy of the maestro's name. This is a must-have just for the chance to listen to Van Dyke's solo songs, which are still hard to find even today.
