Martin Rummel launches a new series of Popper's works! Popper's expert Martin Rummel and Obihiro-born pianist Mari Kato will start a new series of Popper's works for cello and piano! He is also the owner of Paladino. While also active as a pedagogue, Rummel has published and recorded many etudes for cello, and has shared their musical appeal not only with cello students but also with general listeners. In particular, his recordings of works by David Popper (1943-1913), considered one of the greatest cellists of all time, spanning almost two decades, have been acclaimed around the world. This recording includes Popper's masterpiece, "Hungarian Rhapsody," as well as music influenced by folk music from around the world, including Spain, Scotland, and Venice. Rummel's advanced technique and warm cello tone create the same effect that Popper's playing and his music had on audiences in the late 19th century. This is a disc that reminds us that Popper's lesser-known works (such as the charming "Scottish Fantasy") are just as valuable as Popper's more famous pieces. Tokyo M-Plus
