The fourth SACD and MQA-CD hybrid release by the high-quality sound label Eudora! Spanish master Juzep Colon delicately colors Montpauw's "Secret Music"! This is the fourth hybrid SACD and MQA-CD release by Eudora, a Spanish high quality sound label. Juzep Colón, a master of Spanish piano known to those in the know, releases his fifth album on Eudora Records with music by Federico Mompou (1893-1987), an important composer of the modern Spanish National Music School. Both Mompou and Colón share the commonality of being from the Catalonia region of Spain. Although the works are simple and short, their unique meditative harmony is appealing, and they color "Musica Callada" (28 pieces), a collection of piano pieces that is considered one of Mompou's greatest masterpieces, with a delicate touch and eloquent expressiveness. The title "Musica Callada" is taken from a poem by the Spanish thinker "St. John of the Cross," and the album closes with "Cantar del Alma," a vocal piece with music by Mompou on the same poem by St. John of the Cross.
