A set of porcelain dishes painted in the French manner of the late 18th century - scattered flower sprays in polychrome enamels on a white ground, each bloom individually painted with the loose confidence of trained decorator work rather than mechanical transfer printing.
The scattered flower pattern - known in French as compagnie des indes - was among the most popular decorative conventions of the period, used across the major manufactures and their provincial imitators alike. These dishes carry the pattern with particular freshness, the colours still vivid after two hundred years.
In excellent condition. No chips, cracks or repairs. A usable set.
