Description:
Long-awaited by SSW fans! Finally available on CD (original release: 1976) is the first independently produced album by Bob Hughes, a singer/songwriter born in Cambridge, central England, UK. His pop songwriting is superb, with a deep sense of nostalgia, absorbing music from The Beatles, Dylan, Frances Hardy, modern jazz quartets, and many others. It is also noteworthy for its well-made completion, which is hard to believe that it is a private pressing. Hughes (vocals, guitar) is joined by Carmine Cinque (backup vocals) and Ron Turner (lead guitar). The cover painting was done by one of the two sons, the eldest, Robert Hughes (who sits with his brother Muff with his father in the middle on the cover of the next album, "Kids Are OK!"), and this homey atmosphere is conveyed in the music. There is also a touch of British trad in [6], but overall, the music has the feel of "Do You See the Light? (1970), and fans of the Noakes and Jerry Rafferty will find this a bit of a revelation.
