Imam al-Haddad said of this book: "The book Idah Asrar Ulum al-Muqarrabin is the distilled essence of Sufism. If one wanted to explain its title alone, one would need volumes. How much more so, then, for the profound sciences and secrets it contains?"

This work was ever-present in Imam al-Haddad’s gatherings, constantly read and studied. Whenever one reading was completed, another would begin.

Muhammad bin Abdullah al-Aydarus Ba'Alawi was a scholar from Hadramawt who migrated to Surat in Gujerat, and died there in 1630.
