Description:

This is the first duo release by Avishai Cohen, a trumpeter from Tel Aviv, and Yonathan Avishai, a pianist. The two, who attended the same secondary school, have been exploring jazz together in Tel Aviv since they were teenagers and have been friends musically for more than 30 years. Yonathan, who has also participated in My Palm With Silver, will also release his own trio work, Joys and Solitudes, on ECM in 2019. For this album, the trio first recorded one original song with each other. The rest of the time, we played jazz and non-jazz pieces that we like, including Ornette Coleman, who we have always played with, Ellington, who we love, and Abdullah Ibrahim, who we love. It was mostly one-shot recordings, too.
