Longbranch/Pennywhistle
Description:
Longtime friends Fry and J.D. Souther teamed up to release Longbranch/Pennywhistle's 1969 album of the same name on CD and LP for the first time 50 years after its release. The album was remastered and remixed by Elliot Shiner and J.D. Souther. The work was originally included on Glenn Frey's "Above the Clouds: The Collection," which was released in May, and is now available for the first time in CD and LP formats on its own. Songs such as "Kite Woman" and "Run Boy Run" are the literal seeds of the country rock movement that Frye and the Eagles would later join in the middle of and succeed in. Souther, who later became a successful solo artist himself ("Your Only Lonely" is his best-known album), continued to co-write classic Eagles songs with Frey, including "Supreme Love," "New Kid in Town," and "Heartache Tonight.
