Peter Jablonski's third recording for ONDINE is a collection of piano works by Polish composer Grażyna Bacewicz, After graduating in 1932, she went to Paris to study. She studied composition with Nadia Boulanger at the Ecole Normale de Musique. An accomplished violinist and concertmaster of the Polish Radio Orchestra, she left behind many works for violin, four symphonies, and a piano piece, but until recently, her works were little known outside of Poland. However, Christian Zimmermann and other Polish performers have taken up her works one after another, drawing attention to her original style, and in recent years her works have been performed more and more often. In this album, Jablonski presents five works: Piano Sonatas No. 1 and No. 2, "Ten Concert Exercises" and "Two Exercises," which are full of dazzling virtuosity, and "Concert Krakowiak," which effectively uses Polish folk songs as material. The "Piano Sonata No. 1" from 1949 is a collection of works that Jablonski put a lot of effort into, using the edition he edited for publication by PWM (Polish Music Publishing House). Naxos Japan
