With the other hand, gently insert the speculum into the vaginal canal, aiming downward and slightly backward. Advance the speculum carefully until the blades are inside the vagina. Once you fully insert the speculum, you will have a clear view of the vaginal walls and cervix. Use a light source (such as a speculum light) to illuminate the area for a better view.
