(Original release: 1970/Mainstream Records) Formed in New Mexico in the mid-1960s, this quartet was the only album by the band to feature Janis Joplin's debut record. This only album was released on the Mainstream label, also known for Janis Joplin's debut record. The album is based on psychedelic blues rock with a hint of Jimi Hendrix, but it also features the group's multifaceted appeal, ranging from rural country rock that is reminiscent of British pub rock to stylish hard rock. After this, the group moved to Motown-affiliated Rare Earth and changed its name to . The group gained a cult following by asserting their identity as a Native American band.
