With a powerful front wheel drive car, a limited slip differential is critical in hard acceleration because you are powering the same wheels that are turning. With an open differential, if you turn left, most of the power will go to the left wheel. If you turn right, most of the power will go to the right inside wheel. This does not help in cornering and lessens traction and increases lap times.

If you install a limited slip differential like this one, when you turn left, the right wheel gets more power, helping push you through the turn. If you turn right, the left wheel will help push you through the turn. This helps put more power to the ground and help you turn and accelerate out of the turn faster.

Most modern cars now have an open diff with electronic traction control that cuts engine power and uses the brakes to transfer power to the traction wheel, which slows you down and puts extra wear on your brake components. With this LSD, the wheels will be spinning the same speed when accelerating hard, and won't affect the vehicles brake activated electronic traction control system the same way as an open differential does, improving traction and acceleration times!
