Description:
This unique musical time travel concept enhances the narrative of "For My Mama And Anyone Who Looks Like Her" as Dixon goes through various stages of organizing and processing his surroundings. It ranges from inner demons, complex relationships with religion, and attempts to make sense of the death of a black man; in 2018, his best friend was tragically murdered. In the context of being black and living in this world, "musical time travel" has become a way for Dixon to dissect, process, heal, and carve his own path through traumatic timelines to survive." This album is for myself now and for myself when I was younger." Dixon explains." It's also a conversation I have with my dead countrymen. With every death of a black person in the news, happening in a neighborhood or in a family, there was no specific beginning and end point to the process."The group of songs here is the only way for Dixon to circulate fragmented memories, chapters that have yet to be closed, and to begin to reconcile where the narratives of racism, death, and trauma exist on the new timeline he has created for himself.
