Mendelssohn, who was one of the most precocious geniuses in music history, created numerous masterpieces even in his teens, and the Octet for Strings, composed at the age of 16, is one of his early masterpieces. The "Sinfonia for Strings," which is regarded as a study for a symphony, also shows the extraordinary compositional skills of the teenage Mendelssohn.
