Description:
Photay has been described as a beatmaker genius, having provided mixes for Lucky Me, Ninja Tune, and others, as well as appearing in Boiler Room and supporting acts for BONOBO, etc. His second album, "Walking Hour", follows his 2017 release "Onism". Producer Photay hails from New York City, and was first introduced to music at the age of 9 when he heard Aphex Twin, and a few years later, in Guinea, West Africa, he encountered folk music and began working as Photay. His knowledge of polyrhythms, field recordings, and sampling are his hallmarks of sound-making. The album features a number of top producers from the LA music scene, including Carlos Nino, new age/ambient music legend Laraaji, Metronomy member Michael Lovett, and a female vocalist who has worked with the Dirty Projectors and Ava Luna. and Felicia Douglass, a female vocalist who has worked with Dirty Projectors and Ava Luna, among many others.In addition to electro sounds based on the famous modular synth Bukla's Music Easel, the album also incorporates acoustic sounds such as live guitar, live piano, and live drums played by Photay himself.
