Mozart / Beethoven
Description:
Masterful musicians of ancient instruments, gathered together! Mozart & Beethoven by a group of virtuoso musiciansThe debut disc of Harmonia Mundi by Ensemble Diálogi, an ensemble composed of members of the world's most famous period orchestras and fortepianoist Cristina Escrapez. The ensemble is so aggressive that it is easy to forget that the instruments are period instruments. The ensemble is already scheduled to visit Japan (in January 2019), and is the number one ensemble to watch! Coppola, on clarinet, is a longtime member of the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra. In Mozart: "The Last Concerto" (HMC901980 [out of print]), he captivated the world with his heavenly-sounding clarinet concerto. Tremblay, horn, also plays solo and in ensembles, as well as with world-class period instrument orchestras such as the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, the 18th Century Orchestra, and the Anima Eterna. He has performed with Faust in Schubert's Octet (HMM902263). Oboe Josep Domenech plays with the Orchestre Revolutionnelle et Romantique, the English Baroque Soloists, and Il Giardino Armonico, and teaches baroque oboe at the National Conservatory of Amsterdam.Bassoon Javier Zahra is also a member of the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra. He has performed with Faust in Schubert's Octet (HMM902263). Escrapez, on fortepiano, is highly regarded as an ensemble pianist as well as a soloist, focusing on Haydn and Bach. He is also passionate about teaching younger musicians in Barcelona. The members of the Harmoniumundi debut disc feature a quintet for piano and winds written by Mozart at the age of 28 and by Beethoven at the age of 26. The Quintet K.452, written by Mozart at the age of 28, was described by Mozart himself as his "best" work. It is a masterpiece that boasts beautiful melodies passed from one instrument to another and a piano part that shows Mozart's talent as a pianist and a symphony composer. Beethoven's work, written when he was 26 years old, is a work of great ambition. The final movement, Rondo, is a masterpiece of Beethoven's talent as a composer of variations, and the power of the final movement, which is bursting with energy, is breathtaking. King International
