Isabelle Faust
Description:
Isabelle Faust records a concerto by Schoenberg! Isabelle Faust's latest recording is a combination of the string sextet version of Schoenberg's "Night of the Pure Night," a work written in her mid-20s, and a violin concerto written less than 40 years later. The "Night of the Dead" is a fascinating work with a mature romanticism that shows strong influences of Brahms and Wagner, and the performance here is noteworthy because it features the strongest group of players Faust trusted with his music. The ensemble, centered on Faust's straightforward tone, accentuates the work's ripe atmosphere, and a sordid world unfolds. The Violin Concerto was written in sonata form, and the first movement is a rapid (Allegro), the second movement a slow (Andante), and the third movement a rondo finale. The third movement is a rondo finale. Faust plays the various melodies that Schönberg included in the 12-tone technique with skill and precision, and the beautiful melodies that Schönberg wove into the strict and rigorous 12-tone world are brought out in the most fascinating way. The ensemble with the Harding-led orchestra is also superb and perfectly matched.Between the romanticism of the columns and the rigor of the "classical" style, Faust and her trusted musicians bring to life these works, some of the greatest masterpieces in 20th century music history. The performers in "Night of the Pure Night" are unbelievable. Violinist Anne Katharina Schreiber is the leader of the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra. Antoine Tamestit is a world-renowned violinist (member of Trio Zimmermann). Danusha Vaszkiewicz was viola in the concerto symphony with the Mozart Orchestra under Abbado and the complete Mozart cycle by Carmignola. Christian Portela is a member of Trio Zimmermann. Jean-Guyan Querras is another world-class player who has made many visits to Japan. All of the players have played works from a wide range of periods, and it is very special to hear them perform the "Night of the Pure Night" together. King International
