As with the previous four releases, 100 titles from Sony Music's extensive jazz catalog, centered on the two major U.S. labels Columbia and RCA, are included, including first CD releases of long-awaited works and rare works that are currently difficult to obtain (Vol. 5: 50 titles released on October 14; Vol. 6: 50 titles released on November 6). The special price is 1,000 yen plus tax (1,500 yen plus tax for the 2-disc set). All titles include new liner notes. A unique masterpiece by McCoy Tyner, one of the most famous pianists in modern jazz, who tackled funk and Latin music. The album features a wide variety of music, from a number featuring Phyllis Hyman, a diva who died prematurely, to a session in which she engages in a fierce exchange with Carlos Santana's guitar.
