The latter half of the Beethoven Symphony Collection by Lan Shui and the Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra is now available! Vestergaard, the orchestra's cellist, had this to say about the performance: "In this performance, Lan Shui moved the string section. For this performance, Lan Shui moved the string section, placing the cellos next to the first violins and the horns right behind them. The horns, trumpets, and timpani were period instruments, which gave a very soft sound that matched the tone of this small orchestra. Beethoven's tempo was so fast that the strings had a hard time keeping up, but it was also very effective. It is said that the metronome Beethoven used was inaccurate, but Lan Shui put his trust in this speed." This piece, which has one of the strongest messages in Beethoven's entire oeuvre, has graced the programs of orchestras everywhere and has been performed repeatedly in concert halls around the world, but this performance by Lan Shui is never buried, and is extremely personal and compelling.
